Baby, it’s cold outside.
And when you’re preparing for winters, there’s no such thing as over-preparing. And it’s already that time of the year when you’ll need to turn up the heat.
While hot chocolate and warm, woolen socks offer comfort, they’re not enough to keep us warm throughout the harsh season. With cold weather comes the need to keep your home warm.
And that’s when you need to buy an HVAC system!
With so many options to choose from, you’re left scratching your head in confusion. But don’t worry; this blog is designed to help you find the best HVAC system for your home!
Here’s what you should consider:
Understand the Rating System
Make sure you understand the rating system before you decide which HVAC system you want to buy. There are 3 types of ratings available:
¬ Average Fuel utilization Efficiency
This type of rating is used to measure the efficiency of gas and oil-fired furnaces. Look for one that has a high rating because this indicates that the system is fast, efficient, and reliable.
For example: if the rating is 70%, this means that the furnace can convert up to 70% of the fuel. When choosing, make sure that the furnace can convert up to 78% of the fuel.
¬ Heating Seasonal Performance
This will help you measure the efficiency of the heat pumps in the system. If the rating is high, this means that the pumps use less energy. When you’re taking into account the heating seasonal performance factor, make sure the rating is 13 and above.
This is because heat pumps that come with a rating of 8.5 or more can help you conserve energy, resulting in low utility costs.
¬ Seasonal Energy Efficiency
As the name suggests, this rating helps measure the efficiency of heat pumps and air conditioners. Heat pumps with the rating of 30 and above will consume less energy. Air conditioners with the rating of 14 and above will cool faster and conserve energy.
Know Your Budget
There are several factors to consider but you need to decide on your budget. While you can get something that’s affordable, know that, that’s not the best option.
Cheap HVAC systems tend to have low-quality parts. These only work for a couple of months before needing their parts replaced.
Make sure you compare different HVAC systems from different suppliers. Don’t go with the first option. Always look into reviews and different brands before choosing a system.
Hire a Certified Professional
Don’t even attempt to install your HVAC system yourself. Always go with a professional who has the expertise and knowledge to install the system properly.
They should not only have experience but the expertise, certification and license to work with HVAC systems.
